Members of the Lorain Lions Club gathered on December 6, 2023, to support the Salvation Army Lorain Corps by participating in the annual Red Kettle Campaign. The event took place at the Walmart Supercenter located at 4380 N. Leavitt Road in Lorain, Ohio, where 24 club members braved the winter chill to ring bells and encourage holiday donations.
Local high school student Braelynn Johnson was among those who contributed, showcasing the community’s spirit of giving. Members of the Lions Club have partnered with the Salvation Army for nearly 90 years, demonstrating a long-standing commitment to providing essential services during the festive season.
Community Engagement and Spirit of Giving
Dressed in festive Santa Claus attire, Dino Torres, a member of the Lorain Lions Club, highlighted the joy of the occasion. “The greatest joy I received ringing the bells was seeing the smiles on the donor’s faces as we rang the bells and they made donations to the red kettles,” he remarked. “Tis the season of giving indeed.”
This collaboration between the Lions Club and the Salvation Army has proven vital, as it not only raises funds but also fosters a sense of community and hope for those in need. The financial contributions collected through the Red Kettle Campaign are used to support essential services such as food, shelter, and other assistance throughout the year.
