Nashoba Tech Students Donate to Spice Drive Supporting Local Families

The Cultures and Communities Club at Nashoba Valley Technical High School in Westford organized a successful Spice Drive, collecting essential cooking items for families in need. The donations were given to the Coalition for a Better Acre (CBA), a Lowell-based organization aimed at enhancing community resources and support systems. This initiative allows families to access spices and cooking oils, fostering creativity in the kitchen while preserving cultural heritage.

On October 15, 2023, State Representative Vanna Howard, who serves on the board of directors for CBA, accepted the donations from club members Emma Ehring and Aaron Jewer-Liles, both seniors from Chelmsford. This year marks the fourth consecutive year that the Cultures and Communities Club has hosted the Spice Drive, demonstrating a strong commitment to community service.

The drive reflects the club’s dedication to supporting local families by ensuring they have access to essential cooking ingredients that can help keep cherished family recipes alive. By providing these resources, the club not only promotes culinary exploration but also strengthens cultural ties within the community.

The partnership with the Coalition for a Better Acre highlights the importance of collaboration between educational institutions and local organizations. Through initiatives like this, students learn valuable lessons about social responsibility and the impact of community engagement.

As the Spice Drive continues to grow, it serves as a reminder of the power of collective effort in addressing the needs of families in the region. The ongoing support from Nashoba Tech students contributes to a broader movement of community solidarity, ensuring that cultural traditions can thrive even in challenging times.
