On December 18, the Newcomers Club of Chico made a significant contribution to the community by donating 485 pounds of food and $120 in cash to the local Food Locker. This charitable act took place during the club’s Luncheon at the Elks Lodge, where members gathered to celebrate the spirit of giving.
Co-Presidents Janice Napier and Jenny Herman were present at the event, alongside Jenny’s husband, Paul Herman, who played a key role in collecting and delivering the food items. The donation highlights the club’s commitment to supporting those in need within the local community.
The Newcomers Club encourages community involvement and aims to foster connections among its members. During the luncheon, the atmosphere was filled with camaraderie and a shared purpose, exemplifying the positive impact that collective efforts can have on addressing food insecurity.
As part of their outreach, the club invites members and the wider community to participate in future initiatives. This event serves as a reminder of the importance of supporting local resources, especially during challenging times.
In addition to this donation, the Newcomers Club regularly seeks to engage in various community service projects. Members are encouraged to submit their own snapshots of community events for publication, such as service projects, guest speakers, and awards presentations.
For those interested in sharing their contributions, submissions should include a high-resolution JPG image along with a brief description detailing the who, what, where, when, and why of the event. Photos should feature people, with no more than twelve individuals in each image, and must be current to ensure relevance.
By working together, local organizations and community members can create lasting change, reinforcing the value of teamwork and compassion in addressing the needs of others.
