In a significant recognition of their outstanding performances this season, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Puka Nacua were named to the first-team All-Pro on January 6, 2024. This accolade highlights the players’ crucial roles in leading the Rams to a strong campaign, finishing with a record of 12-5 and securing the No. 5 seed in the NFC playoffs.
Stafford, now in his 17th professional season, achieved remarkable statistics, passing for a league-leading 46 touchdowns and 4,707 yards. This marks his first All-Pro selection, reflecting not only his individual excellence but also his leadership on the field. The Rams are set to face the Carolina Panthers in a wild-card playoff game at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Nacua, a third-year player, also made a significant impact this season. He recorded a league-high 129 receptions, with 10 touchdowns to his name. His total of 1,715 receiving yards ranks second in the league, just behind Seattle’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who amassed 1,793 yards. Nacua’s performance has been pivotal for the Rams’ offense throughout the season.
In addition to Stafford and Nacua, the All-Pro selections included Derwin James Jr. and Del’Shawn Phillips from the Los Angeles Chargers, who earned second-team honors. James recorded three interceptions, two sacks, 94 tackles, and a forced fumble this season, showcasing his defensive prowess. Phillips contributed with 37 tackles and one sack, reinforcing the Chargers’ defense.
The All-Pro team is determined by a panel of 50 media members who consistently cover the NFL, ensuring that the selections reflect a broad spectrum of expertise and insight. Notably, reporters from the Los Angeles Times do not participate in the voting process for these awards.
As the Rams prepare for their playoff matchup, the recognition of Stafford and Nacua serves not only as an individual achievement but also as a testament to the team’s overall performance this season. Their contributions will be crucial as they aim to advance further in the postseason, beginning with the upcoming game against the Panthers.
