Remembering Jack Nason: A Life of Love and Service

John Francis Nason, affectionately known as Jack, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 82 on December 20, 2025, in Scarborough, Maine. Surrounded by his loving family, Jack’s legacy is characterized by the joy, love, and laughter he brought to those around him. His passing has left a profound impact on his family and friends.

Jack is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Sally Nason, and their three daughters: Amy Sturgis and her husband Matt Sturgis, Holly Rowe and her husband Nick Rowe, and Tammy Loring Terrano along with her husband Phillip Terrano. He also cherished his role as a grandfather to Porter Rooney, who is engaged to Danielle Peach, as well as to Wyatt and Hale Rowe, Liza Sturgis, and Jack, Casey, Cora, and Julia Loring. Additionally, he is remembered by his nephews Andrew and John Backman.

A Celebration of Life

A memorial service to honor Jack’s life will take place on January 31, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Thornton Heights United Methodist Church, located at 100 Westbrook Street, South Portland. Following the service, a reception will be held at the Hillcrest Retirement Community Center, at 108 Hillcrest Avenue, Scarborough.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jack’s memory to the American Lung Association, located at 122 State St., Augusta, ME 04330, or to the Southern Maine Detachment of the Marine Corps League at 142 Hennessy Dr., Portland, ME 04103.

Jack Nason will be remembered not only for his service to his community but also for the profound love he shared with his family and friends. His spirit and kindness will continue to inspire those who knew him.
