Woodland Rotary Clubs Seek Community Input for Legacy Project

The Rotary Clubs of Woodland are inviting residents to contribute ideas for a Centennial Legacy Project as they prepare to celebrate their 100th anniversary in 2026. In collaboration with the Woodland Sunrise and Luna Vista Rotary clubs, the initiative seeks to create a lasting improvement that benefits the community for generations.

The clubs aim to engage the Woodland community in identifying a project that addresses an unmet need, as emphasized by Aniek Pflager, president for the 2025-2026 term. “We want this milestone to mean more than a party,” Pflager stated. “We’re looking for a project that fills an unmet need—something that may not be already planned or fully funded that our community will be proud of in year 100 and year 150.”

Criteria for Project Submission

To align with the vision for the Centennial Legacy Project, specific criteria have been established. The project should have a broad community impact, particularly benefiting youth and seniors. It must also be enduring and visible, representing a significant capital improvement, installation, or amenity that will stand the test of time.

Feasibility is another crucial factor. The clubs are looking for projects that can realistically be completed in 2026, with a clear path towards securing necessary permits and partnerships. Additionally, opportunities for collaboration, volunteer involvement, and co-funding are encouraged to enhance community engagement.

How to Participate

Community members interested in proposing a project can visit woodlandrotary.org to access the Centennial Suggestion Form. Alternatively, ideas can be submitted via email to [email protected]. Submissions should include a brief description of the project, its location, estimated impact, and potential partners.

The deadline for submission is December 1, 2023. This initiative presents a unique opportunity for the Woodland community to leave a lasting legacy as the Rotary Club marks its centennial milestone. Residents are encouraged to share their innovative ideas to help shape the future of their community.
