Carville Claims Trump’s Venezuela Strike Diverts Attention from Epstein Files

Political strategist James Carville has asserted that President Donald Trump launched a military operation against Venezuela primarily to divert public attention from the ongoing release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. In a video shared during the Politicon event on March 2, 2024, Carville criticized pundits who are attempting to rationalize Trump’s actions as aligned with U.S. foreign policy objectives.

Carville’s comments came in response to the recent U.S. strike on Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro‘s regime, which the Trump administration described as a necessary move against drug trafficking. He argued that the real motivation lies elsewhere. “Why’s he doing this? What’s his objective? You know what his objective is. It’s Jeffrey Epstein,” Carville stated, emphasizing that the continuous revelations from the Epstein Files are the true backdrop of these military actions.

The former Democratic strategist expressed frustration with television hosts and lawmakers who are speculating on Trump’s motivations. “If you think this is anything remotely legit… it’s all about Epstein! Wake up! Get the scales off your eyes!” Carville urged, suggesting that the focus on foreign policy is misplaced.

Carville posited that Trump’s military intervention serves as a distraction from potentially damaging information emerging from the Epstein Files. He believes that this strategy illustrates Trump’s instinct for survival, stating, “In his reptilian survival way, he says ‘I’m going to do this and draw attention away from Epstein.’”

The military operation has escalated tensions in the region. Following the strike, Trump has issued threats towards other Latin American leaders, including Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico and Gustavo Petro of Colombia. Trump criticized Sheinbaum for her administration’s handling of drug cartels and accused Petro of contributing to the cocaine trade. In response, Petro condemned the U.S. actions, stating that such interventions are an affront to Colombian sovereignty.

In a recent interview on “Fox & Friends,” Trump remarked that Petro needs to “watch his ass,” indicating a rising hostility in the rhetoric surrounding U.S.-Latin American relations. Petro, who has previously labeled U.S. leadership as a “clan of pedophiles,” suggested that the military presence is merely a tactic to suppress the release of damaging documents linked to Epstein.

The political fallout from the Venezuela operation continues to unfold, raising questions about the implications for U.S. foreign policy in Latin America and the ongoing discourse surrounding the Epstein scandal. As the situation evolves, observers will be closely monitoring how these developments interact with Trump’s broader political narrative and the potential repercussions for his administration.
