During World War II, he assisted his father, who served as a Civilian Air Warden.
Jack attended Mary Star of the Sea Elementary School and later St. Anthony’s High School in Long Beach. Before the construction of the Vincent Thomas Bridge, he would take a ferry across the harbor to reach school. An avid athlete, Jack excelled in recreational sports and was a distance runner on the Track and Field team, where he earned numerous accolades. His passion for running continued through college, where he obtained a degree in Drafting.

Jack enjoyed family vacations, gardening, and various DIY projects. He had a passion for coin collecting and was known for his unique sense of humor that brought joy to those around him. Each day began with a cup of coffee, a crossword puzzle, and a close watch on the stock market, reflecting his inquisitive nature.
