The Christian Heritage Lions concluded their regular season with a resounding victory over regional rivals, the Armuchee Indians, triumphing 42-7 on October 27, 2025. This win not only marked the Lions’ seventh victory of the season but also secured their place in the playoffs for an eighth consecutive year. With a final record of 7-3 and a region record of 6-1, the Lions are poised to make a strong postseason run.
Armuchee’s season, in contrast, ended with a disappointing 0-9 record, hindered by injuries throughout the year. The Lions dominated the Halloween matchup, showcasing their prowess from the outset. The game quickly turned in their favor, leading to a running clock in the second half due to their substantial first-half lead.
The Lions’ defense set the tone early when junior defensive end John Stanley recovered a fumble on Armuchee’s second play of the game. Shortly thereafter, freshman quarterback Charlie Baxter connected with senior tight end Benji Michmerhuizen for a 21-yard touchdown pass, putting Christian Heritage ahead 7-0 after junior kicker Luis Salinas successfully converted the extra point.
Armuchee struggled to respond, with sophomore quarterback Riley Millican intercepted by senior strong safety Sawyer Corn. Although an interception was negated by a penalty, the Lions quickly regained control and extended their lead. After a series of strong defensive plays, including a sack by Henry Hill, the Lions scored again with a 19-yard rushing touchdown from Hill, making it 14-0.
The Lions continued to capitalize on Armuchee’s mistakes. On the Indians’ next possession, Cooper Middleton caused a fumble that he returned for a touchdown, further widening the gap to 21-0. The Lions displayed a balanced offensive attack, with Baxter completing 16 of 22 passes for 247 yards throughout the game.
As the first quarter progressed, Armuchee managed to pull off a significant defensive play. Senior linebacker Cason Wade sacked Baxter, but the Lions responded quickly. Early in the second quarter, Baxter threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Kyric Rockholt, extending the Lions’ lead to 28-0.
Despite a fumble setback from a promising play by sophomore running back Harrison Murdock, Baxter rushed for a 1-yard touchdown, further solidifying their dominance at 35-0. The Lions continued to control the game, with Middleton making another impactful sack against Millican, forcing another Armuchee punt.
The second half featured a running clock as the Lions maintained their lead. Backup quarterback Beau Moore entered the game and scored a rushing touchdown from 17 yards out, bringing the Lions’ tally to 42 points.
Armuchee finally found the end zone with senior running back Devyn Davis scoring a touchdown late in the game, marking their only points of the night. Kicker Dimitri Castro successfully converted the extra point, ending the game at 42-7.
This victory not only secured a second-place finish for Christian Heritage in the Region 7-A D1 standings but also marked their second consecutive win over the Indians, having previously defeated them 45-26 in 2024.
Baxter’s performance elevated him to fifth in the state for overall passing yards, with a season total of 2,406 yards. After the game, he expressed optimism about the upcoming playoffs, stating, “I feel good going into the playoffs. We feel good and are hoping to see who we play.”
The Lions now await the announcement of their playoff opponent and game date. As they prepare to enter the postseason, Terry emphasized the importance of training and commitment, asserting, “We’ve got a solid shot of making it pretty far into the playoffs.”
With a mix of leadership and youth, the Lions are ready to face their next challenge, aiming to build on their successful season.
