Houston Rodeo 2026: Essential Tips for Parking and Savings

The 2026 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is set to commence on March 2, 2026, and officials are encouraging attendees to adopt a strategic approach to enjoy the event fully. With millions expected to visit the NRG Park, innovations in technology aim to enhance the experience, particularly regarding parking, food, and security.

Parking has historically posed challenges for attendees. Danielle Grossman, director of strategic communications for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, suggests that visitors consider taking the METRORail. “It’s only $1.25, and it conveniently drops you off right at the park,” Grossman noted. For those opting to drive, several public lots, including the Yellow, 610, and OST lots, will be available for $25. As the Rodeo has transitioned to a cashless system, prepayment for parking is encouraged through the official website, rodeohouston.com.

To further assist attendees, the Rodeo’s mobile app has been updated to feature live parking capacity information. This tool allows drivers to check which lots are full in real time, helping them avoid unnecessary delays during peak hours.

Families aiming to save on expenses should take note of the deadline for discounted Carnival Packs. These packs, offering substantial savings on rides and games, must be purchased by midnight on February 28, 2026, coinciding with the final night of the World Championship Barbecue Contest. This year, a new $125 “Mega Pack,” valued at $500, includes 150 carnival tickets and a variety of food coupons. “We want to make this event inclusive and accessible to everyone,” Grossman emphasized, highlighting the affordability for larger families.

Additional savings opportunities are available during Family Wednesdays and Community Day, which provide free or discounted admission along with $3 food specials in the Junction area.

Unlike many venues that have implemented strict clear bag policies, the Rodeo maintains a more flexible approach. “You don’t have to have a clear bag. Bring your diaper bags or whatever you need for your family,” Grossman explained. Nevertheless, all bags will undergo security screenings upon entry, and certain items, such as weapons and professional cameras with lenses longer than three inches, are prohibited.

Inside the venue, the Rodeo app serves as a comprehensive guide. The “Plan Your Visit” feature allows guests to curate a personalized schedule of events, from AGVENTURE and the Petting Zoo to performances on the star stage inside NRG Stadium. The app also includes a GPS-enabled food locator, guiding users to specific vendors, whether they’re craving fried Oreos or a foot-long corn dog.

With its 21-day run beginning on March 2, 2026, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo promises an array of events and activities for all attendees. By utilizing available resources and planning ahead, visitors can maximize their experience and enjoy all that this iconic event has to offer.
