New Temple Announced for Spanish Fork, Utah to Serve Local Community

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has revealed plans for a new temple in Spanish Fork, Utah. The Spanish Fork Utah Temple will be situated on an 8.7-acre site at the corner of 100 South and 2550 East. This announcement marks a significant development for the local community, which is home to a substantial population of Latter-day Saints.

This temple is part of a broader initiative, adding to the existing 32 Latter-day Saint temples currently in operation, under construction, or in planning stages across Utah. The temple was initially announced during the April 2025 general conference, a pivotal event for the Church, designed to serve the state’s nearly 2.2 million Latter-day Saints.

In his remarks during the conference, the late Church President Russell M. Nelson emphasized the spiritual importance of temple worship. He stated, “Regular worship in the house of the Lord increases our capacity for both virtue and charity. Thus, time in the temple increases our confidence before the Lord, and increased time in the temple will help us prepare for the second coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.” His words underline the significance of the new temple in fostering community and faith.

Plans for the Spanish Fork Utah Temple indicate a multistory structure that will cover approximately 80,000 square feet. Accompanying the temple will be an ancillary building designed to enhance the facilities available for worship and community activities. While visuals of the exterior remain forthcoming, the temple is set to become a landmark for the area.

The announcement has generated excitement among local members of the Church, who view the new temple as a vital addition to their spiritual resources. The site’s location aims to make the temple more accessible to the growing population of Latter-day Saints in the region.

As construction progresses, further updates regarding design and completion timelines are expected to be released through official channels, including ChurchofJesusChrist.org. This new temple is anticipated to enrich the spiritual lives of many and contribute to the overall growth of the community in Spanish Fork.
