12-Year-Old Boy Brutally Beaten in Staten Island Park on Halloween

URGENT UPDATE: A 12-year-old boy was brutally attacked in a Staten Island park on Halloween night, leaving him with severe injuries. The incident occurred in New Dorp shortly after the boy finished trick-or-treating with friends. His mother, Mona Awad, described the horrific scene, stating, “Just kept hitting him in the face, and he’s telling them, ‘please stop hitting me, I didn’t do anything.’”

The attack erupted when two suspects approached and pinned the boy and a friend against a fence, initiating a relentless assault without provocation. The victim recounted, “I was just yelling, ‘stop! I didn’t really do anything at all! Stop!’ and then they just kept going.” The violence escalated to the point where he was struck with brass knuckles, resulting in a split lip and a nearly knocked-out front tooth.

Awad’s son returned home covered in blood, prompting her to rush out in panic. “I see his face leaking, and he’s crying, and that was it,” she said. The terrifying ordeal has left the boy traumatized, as he has not returned to school since the incident. “I was just like nervous and I don’t really want people to see my face,” he shared, revealing the emotional toll of the attack.

Authorities are investigating the incident, which Awad believes stems from a misunderstanding. Earlier that day, a separate incident involving neighborhood boys harassing girls occurred in the same park. Awad claims her son was not involved, yet he was targeted in what appears to be a case of mistaken identity. “He could have dropped dead a block away from me,” Awad emphasized, highlighting the potential severity of the assault.

As the investigation continues, no arrests have been made, leaving the community on edge. Eyewitness News has reported on the situation, but the lack of immediate action from law enforcement is raising concerns among residents.

The emotional impact of this event is palpable, with Awad stating, “It was Halloween – he’s 12. It’s not supposed to be like that.” As the story develops, parents and community members are urged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
