UPDATE: Antigone G. Sotos, an 88-year-old matriarch from West Lawn, has passed away peacefully on November 13, 2025, surrounded by her cherished family. This beloved figure, who dedicated her life to family and Greek traditions, leaves behind a rich legacy and profound impact on her community.
Born on December 14, 1936, in Neochori, Greece, Antigone immigrated to the United States in 1963. She worked tirelessly as a seamstress for Letisse, Inc. until 1986, and later for Juliette Originals and Narrow Fabrics until 2002. Her contributions to the local economy and her skilled craftsmanship will be remembered by many.
Antigone was predeceased by her husband, Lambros G. Sotos, in 2014, with whom she shared an incredible 52 years of marriage. Proud of her Greek heritage, she was an active member of Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Reading, where she nurtured her faith and community ties.
Nothing was more important to Antigone than her family. She is survived by three children: George L. Sotos, companion of Kelly Gahan; Fani L. Polyak, wife of James Polyak; and Eleni L. Sotos. Her five grandchildren—Samantha, Evan, Nicholas, Alexia, and Ajay—will remember her for her delightful seven-course meals and unwavering love.
Antigone’s sister, Diamanto (Rovola), and brother, Antonios, along with numerous nieces and nephews, also survive her, continuing the family legacy she cherished deeply. She was predeceased by her brother Dimitri and three sisters: Sophia, Katina, and Georgia.
Services are scheduled for Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Sts. Constantine and Helen Church, located at 1001 East Wyomissing Blvd., Reading. Rev. Father Theodore Petrides will preside over the ceremony. Interment will follow at Charles Evans Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Sts. Constantine and Helen Church at the same address, ensuring that Antigone’s spirit of generosity and love continues to thrive. Arrangements are being handled by Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc. in West Reading.
This poignant farewell reflects not just the loss of a beloved family member, but also the deep connections and traditions that she fostered throughout her life. As the community mourns, her legacy of love and commitment to family will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
