Armed Robbery Suspect Claims Innocence in Shocking Prison Letter

UPDATE: A man convicted of armed robbery against actress Nana has made shocking claims of innocence from prison, igniting a new controversy. The suspect, identified only as A, sent a letter to JTBC’s Crime Chief, asserting that he did not premeditate the crime committed last November in Guri, Gyeonggi Province.

In the letter, A claims he only intended to steal money to cover his mother’s hospital bills, stating, “I only intended to commit theft and did not prepare any weapons in advance.” He alleges that he entered the home wearing gloves and a headset and insists that during a struggle, it was Nana who stabbed him with a weapon from within the house.

A’s letter has raised eyebrows, particularly because he has also filed a countersuit against Nana for attempted murder and aggravated assault. He further alleges that police pressured him into a false confession by offering him ₩40.0 million KRW (approximately $27,700 USD) if he claimed he had entered the home armed.

However, police have confirmed that A used a ladder to enter Nana’s home while carrying a weapon in its sheath. Authorities report that he threatened Nana’s mother by choking her, putting her life at significant risk. In response to her mother’s screams, Nana acted bravely to subdue A, resulting in a laceration to his chin.

According to police, “There was a clear invasion of the victims’ rights, and there is no indication that excessive force was used against the perpetrator during the defense.” As a result, both Nana and her mother have been excluded from suspect status.

Nana’s agency has vehemently denied A’s allegations, stating, “The claims regarding hospital bills, monetary proposals, or any weapons-related agreements are entirely false.” They added that A had requested they not report the incident to law enforcement. The agency promised to take all possible civil and criminal legal actions against A for his countersuit, which they describe as an attempt to exploit Nana’s celebrity status.

Many interpret A’s letter and countersuit as a strategy to sway public opinion or reduce his sentence, despite the police already confirming the legitimacy of Nana’s self-defense actions. The investigation into the case remains ongoing, as authorities plan to review the matter following A’s complaint.

In light of these developments, Nana recently shared an emotional message with her fans on social media, expressing her distress over the situation. The public awaits further updates as the story continues to unfold.
