Austin Launches Free Spay/Neuter Clinic for Pets Starting Nov 13

URGENT UPDATE: Austin Animal Services, in partnership with Greater Good Charities, has just announced a free spay/neuter clinic for pets in Austin and Travis County from November 13 through November 17, 2025. This vital initiative aims to ease the financial burden on pet owners while tackling the critical issue of animal overpopulation.

Beginning daily at 6:00 am and running until 10:00 am or until capacity is reached, the clinic, located at 11580 Stonehollow Dr., Suite 160, Austin, TX 78758, will offer not only spay and neuter procedures but also free vaccinations, microchips, and flea/tick prevention treatments. Pet owners are encouraged to arrive early as services are provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

This clinic marks the sixth such event in the past year, building on the success of previous clinics that have collectively served over 5,000 pets. With an additional 1,200 animals expected to benefit from this round, the initiative is crucial for reducing the number of stray and homeless pets in the community.

Rolando Fernandez, Interim Director of Animal Services, stated, “As Austin’s municipal shelter, we’re committed to making sure every pet owner—no matter their income or neighborhood—has access to the services that keep pets healthy and communities safe.” This reflects the city’s ongoing commitment to responsible pet ownership and community welfare.

As Austin battles the persistent challenge of animal overpopulation, this free clinic not only addresses immediate pet health needs but also contributes to long-term community safety. The city’s proactive approach demonstrates a dedication to ensuring every pet has the opportunity for a healthy life, which resonates with its progressive values.

This initiative is particularly timely given the significant financial barriers pet owners often face, with typical spay and neuter procedures costing between $75 and several hundred dollars. By removing these financial obstacles, the clinic aims to foster responsible pet ownership and prevent future issues related to unplanned litters and roaming animals.

As the clinic opens its doors, residents are urged to take advantage of this critical service and help reduce the strain on local animal shelters. The community’s support and participation will be paramount in ensuring the success of this clinic and future events planned for early 2026.

Stay tuned for further updates and be part of this transformative effort to enhance the lives of pets and their owners in Austin.
