URGENT UPDATE: Free Thanksgiving meals are being offered today, November 23, 2023, across the Bangor area and northern Maine, providing a warm meal to those in need. Several local institutions are opening their doors to ensure no one goes hungry this holiday season.
Bangor will host multiple meals, starting with the Hammond St Congregational Church at 28 High St. where doors open at noon and meals will be served from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.. The Mansion Church, located at 96 Center St., will serve meals from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
In Dexter, a plant-based meal will be available at Gatherings located at 4 Main St. from noon to 1:30 p.m.. Additionally, the VFW Post 4298 at 20 Cedar St. will be serving meals from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Moving to Dover-Foxcroft, the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church at 824 W. Main St. invites everyone for a meal at noon. In Ellsworth, the Conscious Café, in partnership with the Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry, will provide meals from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 50 Church St.
Residents in Hermon can visit the Lynde Lodge at 2500 Route 2 for a meal from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meanwhile, Old Town will have a meal at Christ Church of Faith on 2274 Bennoch Road at 2 p.m. Finally, the Searsport Apostolic Church at 71 East Main St. will serve dinner at 5 p.m.
