Bellevue Teen Wins Contest, Designs Police Cruiser Wrap

BREAKING: A 14-year-old student, Harper Hardin, has just been announced as the winner of a contest to design a wrap for a police cruiser in Bellevue, Nebraska. Her design, which features white camouflage with purple accents, will soon be seen rolling through the community, showcasing local pride and creativity.

Hardin, a student at Mission Middle School, expressed her disbelief upon learning that her design had been selected. “I was kind of just, like, in shock, like, total shock that I had won,” she said. Her artwork not only reflects her artistic vision but also pays homage to the military community in Bellevue, where she drew inspiration from the sleek appearance of white camouflage.

The police cruiser, driven by School Resource Officer Isaias Rosario, is intended to serve all three middle schools in the Bellevue district. Rosario initiated the contest to foster a stronger connection between students and law enforcement. “What better way to connect with someone than, hey, like, you can potentially have your car out there, you know?” he remarked, emphasizing the importance of community engagement.

Hardin’s design also incorporates the school colors of Bellevue, with purple prominently featured on the hood and roof of the vehicle. “Purple is, like, Bellevue’s color. It goes really well with it,” she noted, highlighting her pride in the community.

The contest, which Hardin submitted her design to in November, aimed to inspire students to participate in local initiatives. She frequently checked in with Officer Rosario about the selection process, eagerly awaiting the announcement. “I kept asking Officer Rosario, hey, when are you guys gonna pick the cruiser? Like, every time I saw him in the office. And he’s like, soon, soon,” she recalled.

Rosario expressed his joy upon seeing Hardin’s final design, stating, “It brings joy to my eyes, I guess.” The Bellevue Police Department noted that the contest was inspired by custom designs created for the district’s high school resource officers, aiming to enhance school spirit and student involvement.

Hardin also expressed gratitude to her art teacher, who encouraged her to enter the contest, emphasizing the supportive environment that fostered her creativity. The unveiling of the cruiser wrap is expected to generate excitement among students and the community, reinforcing the positive relationship between local law enforcement and youth.

Stay tuned for further updates as the police cruiser with Hardin’s design hits the streets of Bellevue, serving as a vibrant symbol of community collaboration and youth empowerment.
