BREAKING NEWS: Mary Ann (Godfrey) Allar has passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on October 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. A cherished figure in her communities, Allar’s death has left a profound impact on those who knew her.
Born in Duluth, MN, Allar was the beloved wife of Gordon Allar and spent many of her happiest years in San Antonio, TX, where she formed strong friendships and embraced the sunny lifestyle. Known for her exquisite talent in quilting, she gifted beautiful handmade quilts to family and friends, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and love.
In addition to her passion for quilting, Allar enjoyed playing Bingo, watching game shows, and spending quality time with her adored dogs, Skipper and Maggie. She was surrounded by family during her final moments, creating a heartfelt farewell.
Allar is survived by her siblings Alice (Daryle) Thompson, Michael Godfrey, and Julie Godfrey, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and the special Quinnell children. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents William and Clara Godfrey, and several siblings.
A graveside blessing will be held at Oneota Cemetery in Duluth on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 10:30 AM. In accordance with her wishes, part of her remains will remain in Duluth, while the rest will be laid to rest with her husband at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery near Spooner, WI, on October 10, 2025, at 2:00 PM.
