UPDATE: Popular Tex-Mex chain Chuy’s has just announced plans to open its first McKinney location, targeting a late 2026 launch. The new restaurant will be situated in the rapidly developing West Grove area at 8405 W. University Drive, covering approximately 6,600 square feet with a bar and outdoor patio.
This expansion marks a significant step for the chain as it seeks to establish its presence in a thriving retail hub north of Dallas. City planning documents reveal that the restaurant will occupy a 1.92-acre site, adding to the area’s growing lineup of national dining options.
Chuy’s Communications Manager Hailey Fitch expressed enthusiasm about the new venture, stating, “We are excited to bring Chuy’s to McKinney,” emphasizing the chain’s commitment to made-from-scratch Tex-Mex cuisine, featuring signature sauces and fan-favorite dishes.
The McKinney menu will showcase Tex-Mex classics including enchiladas, tacos, burritos, and margaritas, ensuring a full-service dining experience. With a focus on outdoor dining and bar seating, residents can look forward to a lively atmosphere.
West Grove is being developed as a major mixed-use retail and dining district at the 380/Custer corridor, designed to attract shoppers and diners alike. This announcement follows a significant ownership change for Chuy’s in 2024, when Darden Restaurants acquired the chain, potentially accelerating its expansion into suburban markets like McKinney.
