Community Mourns as James D. Styer Passes Away at 80

URGENT NEWS: The Exeter Township community is mourning the loss of James D. Styer, who passed away on January 4, 2026, at the age of 80. Styer, well-known in the electrical sales industry, dedicated his life to family and service, leaving behind a profound legacy.

Styer was the husband of the late Cynthia G. (Kline) Styer, who succumbed to pancreatic cancer in 2018. His passing has reignited discussions about the importance of supporting pancreatic cancer research, with donations encouraged to the Lustgarten Foundation in her memory.

Born in Reading and the son of the late John L. and Fern M. (Mengel) Styer, James graduated from Exeter High School in 1963 before attending Penn State University. He served honorably in the United States Army and made significant contributions to the electrical sales industry, retiring from Colonial Electric Supply after a long tenure at Progress Electric Supply.

He is survived by his children, Andrew J. Styer, fiancé of Kimberly Moyer, of Oley, and Paula Styer, spouse of Kelly Eghujovbo, of Detroit. Styer leaves behind five grandchildren: Evan Styer, Luke Styer, Nathan Styer, Aiden Tobias, and Henry Moyer-Daniels. He is also survived by his brothers, John and Joel Styer, and friends including travel partner Roxann Frain.

Visitation for family and friends will take place on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by services at 11:00 AM at Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., located at 2100 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, PA 19606. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
