UPDATE: Coon Rapids City Hall has officially launched its urgent ‘Season of Giving’ donation drive, inviting residents to contribute to local charities in need as the holiday season approaches. The initiative kicks off today, November 24, and will run through December 15, providing an essential opportunity to support families in the community during this critical time.
The donation drive encourages community members to drop off contributions at City Hall, located at 11155 Robinson Drive. Collection bins are conveniently set up in the front lobby, available for donations from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Items requested include non-perishable food, new and unwrapped toys, winter coats, and toiletries, all aimed at brightening the holidays for local families.
Among the charities involved, ACBC Food Shelf urgently seeks high-need items such as flour, oil, and baby food. Toys for Joy specifically requests new toys for children aged 12-18, including small electronics and gift cards. Alexandra House is accepting new or gently used winter coats and children’s boots, while Granny’s Closet needs various household and personal care items, like men’s razors and laundry detergent.
Residents can also donate at other locations, including the Coon Rapids Ice Center, Bunker Hills Golf Club, and all Coon Rapids Fire Stations, which will accept toys and food. Each charity has outlined specific needs to ensure donations directly benefit those struggling during the holiday season.
The act of giving not only supports local families but also fosters community spirit, reinforcing connections among residents.
