DAS North America Announces $77.6M Expansion, Adding 100 Jobs

URGENT UPDATE: DAS North America has just announced a major expansion in Montgomery, Alabama, with a staggering $77.6 million investment that will create 100 new jobs. This development comes at a pivotal time for the region, as the company reinforces its commitment to the local workforce and economy.

DAS North America, a key supplier of seat components for Hyundai and Kia, has been operational in Montgomery since 2012. The new expansion will elevate its total investment in the area to approximately $235.8 million. The company’s products are crucial for the Hyundai assembly plant in Montgomery and the Kia facility across the state line in West Point, Georgia.

Construction for this significant project is set to begin soon, with phased operations expected to commence in late 2027 and full operations projected for 2028. This move underscores the company’s confidence in Alabama’s business environment, as highlighted by Sean Kim, COO of DAS North America, who stated,

“We are proud to expand our presence in Montgomery and strengthen our partnership with the State of Alabama and the local community.”

This announcement aligns with Gov. Kay Ivey’s 2025 New & Expanding Industry Report, which revealed that Alabama is experiencing its highest annual total for capital investment in history. Notably, Montgomery has seen more than $1.1 billion in capital investment, with over 90% coming from existing companies reinvesting locally.

As the region continues to attract significant investments, the local community can expect enhanced economic stability and job growth. The expansion is a testament to sustained employer confidence and the strength of Montgomery’s workforce.

Stay tuned for further updates as construction progresses and operations begin. This development not only provides immediate job opportunities but also signals a positive trend for Alabama’s industrial landscape.
