Erie County Invests $47.5 Million in Major Road Projects for 2025

UPDATE: Erie County officials have just announced a landmark investment of $47.5 million in road projects for the year 2025, marking a significant milestone in infrastructure development. County Executive Mark Poloncarz confirmed that this year’s efforts include the rehabilitation of Maryvale Drive in Cheektowaga, a project valued at $5.5 million.

The announcement underscores the county’s ongoing commitment to enhancing public safety and improving travel conditions for residents. “2025 continued my administration’s history of significant investments in public infrastructure,” Poloncarz stated, emphasizing the need for continuous upgrades.

This year’s enhancements affect 117 miles of roads and five bridges, showcasing a robust plan to ensure that motorists have the safest routes possible. “I thank Commissioner Bill Geary and our Public Works team for the tremendous job they’ve done,” Poloncarz added, highlighting the collaborative effort behind the projects.

Moreover, in the past five years, Erie County has poured over $250 million into road and bridge infrastructure projects, reflecting a sustained commitment to community safety and development. “Over the next three years, thanks to the Bridge New York program, we’re going to be rebuilding 14 bridges,” Geary revealed. “Those bridges will cost anywhere from $2 million to up to $5 or $6 million each.”

These significant investments are not just numbers; they represent a direct impact on the daily lives of Erie County residents, providing better roads and safer travel.
