His loss is felt deeply by family, friends, and the numerous lives he touched throughout his remarkable journey.
Born on July 9, 1938, in Camden, NJ, Hal Warren dedicated his life to service and the arts. A proud graduate of Morristown High School, he served in the Army National Guard for eight years, embodying the spirit of dedication and community service that would define his life.
Warren’s professional career spanned several roles, notably as a Computer Supervisor at Bell Telephone Laboratories in Holmdel, NJ, and as a Manager at GTE Data Services in Johnstown, NY. However, it was his 18 years as a firefighter with the City of Johnstown and his founding of JAVAC in 1971 that truly showcased his commitment to public service.
A passionate advocate for music and theater, Hal was an active participant in local theater groups including Colonial Little Theater and The Galway Players. For several years, he also volunteered as a percussion instructor at the Oppenheim Ephratah School, inspiring young musicians and fostering a love for the arts.
Hal is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Dawn Warren, and their children: Leslie Garber, Heather Hladik, and Lindsay Warren. He leaves behind an extended family that includes grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
In a heartfelt statement, the Warren family expressed their gratitude to the staff at Nathan Littauer Nursing Home and the SCU at Nathan Littauer Hospital for their compassionate care during Hal’s final days.
At the family’s request, there will be no formal services. A Celebration of Life is planned for Spring. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Brennan Humane Society or the Fulton County Regional SPCA, reflecting Hal’s love for animals and community service.
As news of his passing spreads, tributes are expected to pour in from community members whose lives he impacted. His legacy as a dedicated public servant and passionate community member will resonate for years to come.
