BREAKING: Holtman’s Donuts has just announced the closure of its West Chester location, effective December 31, 2023. The family-owned donut shop made this urgent disclosure via social media on Monday evening, citing economic challenges and personal family decisions as key factors in their decision.
The West Chester shop will remain open through New Year’s Eve, but will not reopen in the new year. In their heartfelt message, the owners emphasized, “This isn’t an easy post to share, but we want to be open with our community.” They expressed gratitude for the support they received from local customers.
This closure follows the earlier shutdown of Holtman’s Oakley location, which occurred earlier this year. That space is set to become the Tri-State area’s first CAVA, a popular restaurant specializing in Mediterranean cuisine.
The owners explained that rising ingredient costs and a challenging economic landscape have made continued operation untenable. They stated, “The landscape has changed a lot since pre-COVID. Ingredient costs have risen sharply, the economy is challenging, and continuing to push through no longer feels like the right choice for our family.”
As of now, Holtman’s Donuts will continue to operate its locations in Loveland and Williamsburg, which are managed by other family members. These shops have been integral parts of the community since 1995 and will remain open for business.
The owners concluded their message with a powerful reminder to support local businesses during these trying times. “If there’s one thing we hope people can take from this, it’s a reminder to support your favorite local businesses whenever you can,” they stated. “Many are navigating difficult conditions behind the scenes.”
As the community prepares to say goodbye to Holtman’s West Chester, local patrons are encouraged to visit the remaining shops and continue supporting local establishments. This closure highlights the ongoing challenges faced by small businesses in the wake of the pandemic.
