IDF Kills Palestinian in Gaza as Manhunt Captures 17 Terrorists

URGENT UPDATE: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has confirmed the death of a Palestinian who opened fire on Israeli troops in a designated humanitarian zone in Gaza earlier today. This incident marks a serious breach of the ceasefire agreement established on October 10, as tensions continue to escalate in the region.

In a swift response, the IDF reported no Israeli casualties from the attack, which they describe as part of a troubling trend where Hamas exploits ceasefire conditions. Footage released by the IDF shows the assailant firing towards Israeli positions before being neutralized by return fire.

As the situation unfolded, the IDF simultaneously conducted a 24-hour manhunt in eastern Rafah, successfully targeting a group of 17 terrorists attempting to escape through the tunnel network. The operation resulted in the deaths of 11 militants and the capture of 6 others, who have been transferred to Shin Bet custody for interrogation.

Israeli officials condemned the Palestinian attack, stating, “Israel has fully honoured the ceasefire; Hamas has not.” The Prime Minister’s Office further accused Hamas of using the ceasefire to launch attacks while endangering Palestinian civilians in Gaza.

Additionally, Israel reiterated the urgency of enforcing commitments outlined in President Donald Trump’s 20-point plan for the ceasefire, which includes returning the remains of hostages still held by Hamas. These include the bodies of Israelis Dror Or and Sgt. Maj. Ran Gvili, along with Thai agricultural worker Sudthisak Rinthalak.

A US official, cited by Axios reporter Barak Ravid, affirmed Washington’s support for Israel’s right to respond to violations of the ceasefire, emphasizing the need for accountability.

As the IDF escalates its military response, both the humanitarian situation in Gaza and the security landscape in Israel remain precarious. The international community is closely monitoring these developments, urging both sides to adhere to ceasefire agreements to prevent further escalation.
