Lorraine F. Lease, 94, Passes Away at St. Luke’s Hospice

BREAKING: Lorraine F. Lease, a beloved educator and community volunteer, has passed away at the age of 94. She died peacefully at St. Luke’s Hospice in Bethlehem on January 9, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of service and dedication to her community.

Born on December 11, 1931, in Upper Darby, PA, Lorraine was the daughter of Robert and Cora Florey. She was the devoted wife of the late George M. Lease, who predeceased her on February 22, 2003. Lorraine’s educational journey began at Liberty High School, after which she earned her teaching degree from Kutztown University and a Master’s degree in Education from Lehigh University.

Lorraine dedicated over 30 years to teaching elementary education, with a significant tenure of 20 years at the Bethlehem Area School District. Upon retirement, she and her husband embraced a life filled with travel, tennis, golf, and skiing.

A vibrant member of her community, Lorraine was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. She actively participated in the Moravian Village chorus and cherished time spent with friends over lunch. Her commitment to service was evident through her volunteer work with organizations such as Meals on Wheels, the Allentown Art Museum, Cops n’ Kids, and the New Bethany soup kitchen.

Lorraine was a long-time member of Central Moravian Church in Bethlehem. She is survived by her sisters Althea Lazun and Joyce Hess, along with stepdaughters Joan Johnson and Susan Baier, six step-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren, six step-great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Roberta Florey.

A memorial service will take place at Central Moravian Chapel on March 20, 2026, at 11:00 AM, where family and friends will gather to honor her remarkable life. A private inurnment will follow at Bethlehem Memorial Park.
