UPDATE: Orlando Magic’s coach Jamahl Mosley has just confirmed significant updates on key players ahead of their matchup against the Charlotte Hornets tonight at 7 p.m. at the Kia Center. Tristan da Silva is set to return after recovering from a right shoulder bruise that sidelined him for four games.
Da Silva, who struggled with his performance leading up to his injury, averaging only 4.3 points on 21.7% shooting from three-point range in his last six games, expressed relief and excitement about his return. “I feel good… I’m just glad that I finally took the time to settle back down,” he stated during a press conference at the AdventHealth Training Center.
While Da Silva’s return is a boost for the team, Mosley faced uncertainty regarding the statuses of Goga Bitadze, Jalen Suggs, and brothers Franz and Moe Wagner. Bitadze, who missed the last game against Portland, was seen shooting during warm-ups, with Mosley promising an update closer to tip-off.
Suggs, who traveled with the team but missed all four games of their recent trip, is currently listed as doubtful. “The energy he provides to this group is so important,” Mosley noted. Suggs is gradually working his way back into the lineup with non-contact shooting sessions.
Franz Wagner remains out due to a left high ankle sprain, having missed seven consecutive games. “Not putting a lot of pressure on the foot… just the slow progression is important for us,” Mosley added, highlighting the cautious approach to rehabilitation.
Meanwhile, Moe Wagner continues to recover from an ACL injury sustained last year. His next steps include increasing activity levels, although Mosley emphasized that there is “no real time frame” for his return, as recovery responses dictate the pace.
With a challenging matchup against the Denver Nuggets looming on Saturday night, Mosley expressed the importance of returning home after a grueling road stretch. “It lifts the spirits… being able to be home, sleep in their bed, and get the right type of treatment is so important,” he said.
As the Magic prepare for tonight’s game, fans are eager to see how these developments will impact their performance on the court. The urgency of player health and readiness is critical as the team looks to improve their standings in the league.
