Major Boulder County Traffic Disruptions Announced for Nov. 1-7

UPDATE: Major traffic disruptions are set to impact Boulder County from November 1 to 7, as multiple construction projects commence. These developments will affect key routes, creating significant delays for drivers and commuters in the area.

The most pressing change is on 28th Street, where improvements are underway from Pearl to Iris. Northbound traffic at the Valmont Road RTD Stop No. 17992 will be temporarily relocated until December 31, impacting routes 205 and BOLT. This relocation is expected to complicate daily commutes for many.

Additionally, crews will close Northbound 19th Street between Sumac and Upland as they replace the bridge over Fourmile Canyon Creek and construct a new bike/pedestrian underpass. This closure will detour vehicle and RTD traffic via Quince and is projected to last until April 1, 2024.

Another major project affecting the area is the waterline replacement on 63rd, Andrus, and 62nd Streets. From Jay to Valmont, full closures are anticipated, though access for businesses and residents will be maintained. This work is also expected to conclude by April 1, 2024.

Motorists should also be aware of ongoing milling and paving operations on Colo. 7, which will continue through late October. Expect alternating lane closures between 28th Street and Cherryvale Road from 7 a.m. to midnight, Monday through Friday. Completion of this project is targeted for December 15, 2023.

In Boulder County, the Sugarloaf Road culvert replacement at Betasso Road will require lane closures and installation of a temporary three-way traffic signal, likely causing travel delays into November. Access to Betasso Preserve will remain open.

The City of Boulder is also conducting a lengthy waterline replacement on 63rd Street, which will impose traffic impacts through February 2024. During this time, both lanes on 63rd Street between Gunbarrel Avenue and the railroad crossing will shift to the east side.

In Erie, significant work is progressing on the Prince Lake Dam at 111th Street and Flatiron Meadows Boulevard. Rehabilitation efforts will continue through March 2026, with no lane closures expected, though drivers may experience brief delays.

Additionally, lane closures for the Erie Parkway and Glacier Drive traffic signal project will take place on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through December.

Finally, Weld County will close WCR 1.5 and WCR 3 between WCR 10 and 10.5 until November 26 for maintenance, with closures in effect 24 hours a day.

These extensive construction efforts are part of ongoing improvements aimed at enhancing road safety and traffic flow in the Boulder County area. Commuters are urged to plan accordingly and explore alternate routes to avoid delays.

Stay tuned for further updates as the situation develops.
