UPDATE: Boston Police have just arrested a second suspect in connection with a shooting that occurred on September 22 in Mattapan. Deshawn Grayson, a 26-year-old from Boston, was taken into custody on a warrant for multiple serious charges, including carrying a loaded firearm and assault with a dangerous weapon.
The victim of the Mattapan shooting was shot near 37 Temple St. and transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities confirm that Grayson has been charged with several offenses, including carrying a firearm without a license—his second offense—and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building.
Earlier, on October 7, police arrested Tyrece Tennyson-Young, also 26 and from Dorchester, on similar charges. He was arraigned in Dorchester District Court and remains in custody.
In a related enforcement operation, Boston Police launched a targeted crackdown on scooters and mopeds on Tuesday. This initiative was prompted by rising public safety concerns. Officers seized nine mopeds and issued multiple citations along with seven summonses for various motor vehicle law violations.
Between 10 a.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. Wednesday, Boston Police responded to a staggering 277 incidents, including one robbery and eight aggravated assaults. The increase in criminal activity has raised alarms within the community, prompting officials to take decisive action.
