The Clean Shave event at Tailgate Brewing begins at 6 PM, where participants will shave their faces clean before embarking on a month-long journey to grow mustaches for a good cause.
This unique fundraiser aims to raise vital funds for two local charities: Williamson County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) and the Transformation Life Center. Organizers are urging community members to get involved as they prepare to change lives through their facial hair.
“What better way to start the month than with a clean slate?” says Mike Simmons, president of Mustaches for Kids Nashville. Participants are asked to gather donations from friends, family, and colleagues during November as they grow their mustaches.
Barber Mark Young, co-owner of Dark Horse Collective, is ready to help participants kick off the challenge with fresh shaves. “One by one we’re just going to start taking all the facial hair off, get a nice clean slate and have them boys grow some cool mustaches,” Young stated. His expertise will ensure that everyone is prepped for the month ahead.
Participants like Jason Koontz are already promoting their efforts online, creating buzz around the challenge. “I shaved everything down and started making some content to post online and promote the ‘stache growing season,” Koontz shared. His enthusiasm has inspired others, including Patrick Kapla, to join the cause, highlighting the community spirit of the event.
Since its inception in 2021, Mustaches for Kids Nashville has raised over $121,000 for local charities, demonstrating the impact of this engaging initiative. The challenge blends fun with philanthropy, allowing participants to enjoy the lighter side of mustache-growing while supporting Tennessee’s youth.
