Nashville Teen Arrested for Road Rage Shooting of Valet

UPDATE: A 16-year-old has been arrested in Nashville, charged with the December 5 shooting of a 26-year-old valet in a shocking road rage incident outside the Virgin Hotel on Music Square West. This violent altercation has raised alarming concerns about increasing youth violence in the city.

The confrontation erupted when the valet was assisting a hotel patron with their vehicle. The driver of a Kia Optima accused the valet of blocking traffic, leading to a brief but heated exchange. In a shocking escalation, the teen drew a firearm and shot the valet in the thigh. The Nashville Police Department has confirmed that the victim was hospitalized but is expected to recover.

Just hours after the incident, investigators connected the vehicle involved to a previous crime. Midtown Hills Precinct Officer Drew Chouanard revealed that the suspect was apprehended at an apartment complex in North Nashville late Tuesday. Officers discovered a semi-automatic pistol with an extended magazine in the suspect’s backpack, matching the description of the firearm used in the shooting.

This weapon had been reported stolen during a vehicle burglary in November 2022. The teenage suspect is now facing serious charges in Juvenile Court, including attempted criminal homicide, reckless endangerment, and illegal gun possession by a minor.

This incident underscores a growing trend of violence among youth in Nashville, prompting urgent discussions about public safety and youth intervention programs. Authorities are calling for community vigilance and cooperation in preventing such alarming events in the future.

As the investigation continues, residents are urged to stay informed and report any suspicious activity to the authorities. The Nashville Police Department is committed to addressing this troubling increase in violence and ensuring the safety of all citizens.
