URGENT UPDATE: The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has just announced it will pay off the mortgage for the family of fallen Burnsville firefighter and paramedic Adam Finseth. This generous act comes as part of the 2025 Season of Hope, aimed at supporting families of first responders who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
On February 18, 2024, Finseth, 40, lost his life while bravely responding to a domestic violence call in Burnsville. He was ambushed while attempting to provide medical aid to fellow officers, showcasing his unwavering dedication to his duty. In recognition of his heroism, Burnsville Fire Chief BJ Jungmann named Finseth the department’s Firefighter of the Year.
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation, based in New York, has a mission inspired by the tragic events of September 11, 2001. They emphasize the commitment shown by heroes like Finseth, who “acted without hesitation in his last moments.” This significant mortgage payoff will provide much-needed relief to the Finseth family during their time of grief.
Finseth was one of two SWAT medics in his department and was called to the scene despite it being his day off. He responded to a standoff situation where seven children were at risk. Tragically, during the incident, the suspect opened fire on officers and fatally shot himself, but thankfully, the children and Finseth’s partner were unharmed.
This announcement not only highlights the sacrifices made by first responders but also demonstrates the community’s commitment to supporting their families in times of tragedy. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation continues to play a crucial role in honoring these heroes.
As the community mourns the loss of Adam Finseth, this act of kindness from the Tunnel to Towers Foundation stands as a testament to the strength and resilience of first responders and their families.
Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story and how the community is coming together to support the Finseth family.
