Police Arrest Second Suspect in $23,000 Norwalk Storage Burglary

UPDATE: Authorities have made a significant breakthrough in the investigation of a massive burglary at a Norwalk storage facility, arresting a second suspect linked to the theft of firearms and other valuables. Colt Meadows, 22, from West Haven, was apprehended on Tuesday at Stamford Superior Court after police secured a warrant for his arrest, according to Lt. Tomasz Podgorski of the Norwalk Police Department.

The burglary, which occurred on July 1, 2024, at the Cubesmart facility located at 162 Bouton St., involved the break-in of 89 storage units and led to the theft of approximately $23,000 worth of property, including firearms. Meadows faces serious charges, including five counts of third-degree burglary and conspiracy, along with multiple counts related to theft and firearms.

Meadows’ bond has been set at $50,000, and he is expected to be arraigned today. His arrest follows the earlier capture of Tylon Gardner, 35, of Hamden, who was taken into custody on September 10 and is also facing similar charges, including five counts of third-degree burglary.

The investigation has been extensive, involving collaboration among multiple law enforcement agencies. Authorities confirmed that a stolen .357 revolver was recovered in Branford, underscoring the serious nature of the crime.

This developing story raises alarms about security in storage facilities and the potential risks associated with stolen firearms. Residents in Norwalk and surrounding areas are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

As the legal proceedings unfold, community members are left to wonder about the implications of this breach of security. What’s next for those affected by the burglary remains to be seen, but the police continue to work diligently to ensure justice is served.
