Frederic Earl Marsee, aged 83, passed away peacefully at his home in Hermosa Beach on February 19, 2026. Born in Portland, Oregon, on March 6, 1942, he left a significant mark as a dedicated educator in the Los Angeles County area. He contributed over 40 years of service to the educational community, taking on roles as a teacher, administrator, and principal within the Redondo Beach Unified School District.
Throughout his life, Fred was known for his passion for teaching and his commitment to his students. His influence extended beyond the classroom, as he inspired countless individuals during his long career. Fred’s love for the ocean was evident in his early years, where he spent time surfing along the South Bay coast. In later years, he developed a keen interest in golfing, a hobby he pursued with enthusiasm.
Fred is survived by his partner, Barbara Demarest, and his children, Megan Koch and Kevin Marsee. He also leaves behind five grandchildren who will cherish his memory. Tragically, he was preceded in death by his son, Darren Marsee.
Celebration of Life Scheduled
A Celebration of Life is set to take place at 11:00 AM on March 1, 2026, at Lighthouse Memorials and Receptions, Rice Center, in Torrance. Family, friends, and former colleagues are invited to honor Fred’s legacy and share memories of his impactful life.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages attendees to enjoy a martini in Fred’s memory and consider making a donation to Blood Cancer United, an organization dedicated to fighting blood cancers, reflecting Fred’s generous spirit.
Fred Marsee’s contributions to education and his vibrant personality will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy as a beloved educator and passionate golfer will continue to inspire future generations.
