Salvatore Maimone, 88, Passes Away; Memorial Service Scheduled

BREAKING: Salvatore Maimone, an esteemed member of the Schenectady community, has passed away at the age of 88. He died peacefully on December 23, 2025, at Capstone Nursing Home, leaving behind a legacy of family and friendship.

Maimone was born on March 26, 1937, in Meri, Messina, Sicily, to the late Giuseppe and Concetta Campo Maimone. He immigrated to the United States in 1971 with his wife, Antonina, whom he married in 1957. The couple settled in Schenectady, where they built a life and raised their two sons, Giuseppe and Orazio.

Known for his craftsmanship, Maimone worked as a mason with Local 190 in Albany and was actively involved with the Sons of Italy on Hamburg Street. His contributions to the community were significant, and he is remembered fondly by friends and family alike.

Salvatore was predeceased by his wife, Antonina, in 2006. He is survived by his two sons, Giuseppe and Orazio, as well as his grandchildren—Nicolina, Angelo, Kamden, Ava, Sal, Anthony, and Roberto. His family also includes his sister Anna, who resides in Italy, along with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A calling hour will be held on Monday, December 29th, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home located at 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam. This will be followed by a funeral service at 12 p.m. Salvatore will be interred at the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna.
