Tabb Tigers Dominate Field Hockey, No Goals Allowed Since August

UPDATE: The Tabb Tigers continue their unstoppable run in field hockey, not allowing a single goal since August, as they prepare for their final regular season game against Nansemond River at 6 p.m. on Thursday. This remarkable defensive streak positions them strongly for a potential fifth consecutive Virginia High School League Class 3 championship.

The Tigers secured their last goal against Colonial Forge in a 2-1 win earlier this season. Their impressive performance has also earned them a spot in the Max Field Hockey National Top 25 polls, where they are currently ranked No. 24.

Meanwhile, fellow contenders are making headlines as well. Caitlin Outlaw shone for the Warriors, netting five goals across two games, including a dominant 7-1 victory over Grafton. As the defending VHSL Class 5 champions, the Warriors are looking to maintain their momentum.

Norfolk Academy’s Anja Speers also made an impact, scoring two goals in each of their recent victories over Cape Henry Collegiate and Walsingham Academy. The Bulldogs will close their season by hosting First Colonial at 4 p.m. on Friday.

In other notable performances, Great Bridge defeated Maury 1-0 with Leah Orrock scoring the decisive goal. The Wildcats also shut out Grassfield 4-0, with Lexi Curtis achieving a hat trick. Great Bridge aims to continue their winning streak with upcoming matches against Kellam on Monday at 6 p.m. and Indian River on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m..

Hickory’s Laila Manipon scored the game-winning goal in a close 3-2 victory over Catholic, with fellow Hawk Abby Cullen contributing four goals in a blowout against Oscar Smith. Hickory looks to keep their winning streak alive when they host Western Branch at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Western Branch’s Maddie Viola also delivered, scoring a hat trick in a 4-1 win over Lakeland. Meanwhile, Cox’s Mikaela Quinn fueled a convincing 4-0 victory against Chancellor, showcasing their strength in the league.

Poquoson edged out Jamestown 4-3 with Casey Law and Elizabeth Trant each contributing a goal and an assist. Ashley Groseth starred for the Islanders with a hat trick in a crushing 9-1 win over Smithfield, as they prepare to face York at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

York’s Lexi Anderson clinched a double-overtime win against Prince George 1-0, adding three goals and an assist in a decisive 6-0 victory over Bruton.
