URGENT UPDATE: A young couple has tragically lost their lives in two separate motorbike accidents on the Spanish holiday island of Tenerife, just hours apart. The incidents have shocked the local community and raised concerns about road safety.
INITIAL REPORTS confirm that Orimar Endrina Adellan Fumero, 34, was riding her motorbike at approximately 6 PM last Friday when she was temporarily blinded. Losing control, she collided with a car and was subsequently thrown into the path of a bus. Firefighters worked to free her from beneath the vehicle, but despite their efforts, she succumbed to her injuries.
Just hours later, Adrián, 28, received the devastating news of Orimar’s death. Grieving, he went to her home to care for her pets. Tragically, while driving on the TF-1 motorway near the Granadilla de Abona Industrial Estate, he was struck by a driver who ran a stop sign. The crash occurred on the TF-65 road in Las Zocas, a route notorious for its dangers.
The driver, a 63-year-old Spanish man, was arrested at the scene and is suspected of being under the influence of both alcohol and drugs. Following a night in a holding cell, he appeared before a judge and was released on bail. He now faces charges of causing death by dangerous driving, which could lead to a prison sentence of one to four years and a driving ban of one to six years.
The couple, originally from Venezuela, had been together for around two years and shared a deep passion for animals and motorbikes. Adrián had lived in Adeje since he was three, while Orimar moved to Tenerife at nine and was last residing in El Escobonal. Adrián was involved in breeding falcons, and Orimar worked as a healthcare assistant at a health food store.
The emotional toll of this tragedy has been profound. Adrián is survived by his grandmother and a sister, while Orimar’s younger sister is reported to have suffered a nervous breakdown following the incident.
This tragic news comes on the heels of a recent cycling fatality on the island, further highlighting the urgent need for improved road safety measures. Authorities and the Civil Guard are investigating the latest incidents, raising alarms about the safety of both motorists and cyclists in the area.
As the investigations continue, the local community mourns the loss of two vibrant lives cut short by preventable accidents. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and prioritize safety on the roads.
