BREAKING: Two men have been indicted for the attempted murder of a Korean CEO in an alarming incident that unfolded in the underground parking lot of an apartment complex in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon. The District Prosecutors’ Office confirmed today that Mr. A, aged 38 and a naturalized Chinese citizen, and Mr. B, a 32-year-old Chinese national, face severe charges including attempted robbery-murder and aiding aggravated robbery.
The shocking events occurred in July 2023, when Mr. A allegedly attempted to kidnap and murder the victim, identified as Mr. C, a 61-year-old CEO. Prosecutors revealed that Mr. A aimed to steal valuables and eliminate Mr. C. In a brazen attack, A reportedly covered Mr. C’s vision with an adhesive-coated box and struck him with a metal hammer. Thanks to the victim’s quick thinking, he narrowly escaped but sustained injuries requiring two weeks of medical treatment.
Authorities initially charged the suspects with simple aggravated assault, but a comprehensive investigation revealed premeditation and potential accomplices. In September 2023, following police investigations, prosecutors uncovered evidence suggesting that Mr. A had been stalking Mr. C for nearly three months, indicating a calculated plan to commit the crime for financial gain. This included inquiries about selling large amounts of cryptocurrency, raising suspicions about his financial motives.
Further investigations disclosed that Mr. B played a crucial role by assisting in the planning and execution of the crime. He was involved in discussions with Mr. A regarding the attack and helped gather tools necessary for the assault, which included a stun gun and an axe. Prosecutors also discovered that Mr. A had considered renting a location to hide the body and was even planning to flee overseas.
The investigation revealed a chilling aspect of the case: A and B were preparing to target another potential victim, a 59-year-old man running a gold shop featured on YouTube. Fortunately, this plan did not materialize into an actual crime.
The judicial process is now underway as both suspects remain in custody. Authorities are continuing to examine the evidence and any potential connections to additional victims. This case raises significant concerns about public safety and the lengths individuals will go to for financial gain.
