URGENT ALERT: West Boylston police have issued a critical warning to gym-goers following a disturbing surge in early morning car break-ins. Authorities report that thieves are striking parked vehicles at local gyms, particularly during the hours when people are working out.
Police have noted an alarming increase in incidents where items such as fanny packs, bags, and pocketbooks are left in plain sight on car seats. The thieves are smashing windows and quickly snatching these valuables. “This is a serious concern for our community,” the West Boylston Police Department stated on social media.
Residents are urged to take precautions immediately. Authorities recommend either leaving valuables at home or securing them in the trunk to avoid becoming a target. “Simply hiding items may not be enough as thieves are actively watching for easy opportunities,” police warned.
This warning comes as the police continue their investigation into these break-ins, with a focus on early morning hours when gyms are busiest. Anyone with information regarding these incidents is encouraged to contact Detective Mitchell Rogers at 774-450-3510.
