URGENT UPDATE: A major recall has just been issued for 600 bags of Cinnamon Whiskey Pecans due to undeclared cashews that pose a significant health risk. Nat’s Nuts, based in Rochester, New York, announced the recall in coordination with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) after it was discovered that some packages may contain cashews not listed on the ingredient label.
The affected pecans were distributed to 25 retail stores across Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Ohio, Nevada, Florida, and Wisconsin between October 8 and 16. They were also sold on Amazon from October 9 to 16.
Consumers with allergies or severe sensitivity to cashews are at risk of serious or even life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume these products. The Cinnamon Whiskey Pecans are sold in 4-ounce bags, identifiable by their black and orange packaging, UPC 860002146720, lot code 1.22, and a best-by date of September 29, 2026.
The recall was initiated after a retailer opened a bag for sampling and found cashews mixed in with the pecans. A subsequent company investigation revealed the issue stemmed from a temporary breakdown in production and packaging processes.
As of now, no illnesses have been reported. However, officials urge anyone who purchased these nuts to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. For further assistance, consumers can call 585-310-0157 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.
Retailers have been instructed to remove these products from their shelves immediately. This recall serves as a critical reminder of the importance of allergen labeling and consumer safety. Stay alert, and share this urgent news to protect those with nut allergies.
