Wilson County Landfill and Centers Closing for Staff Training

URGENT UPDATE: Residents of Wilson County must adjust their trash disposal plans as the county’s Solid Waste C&D Landfill and all Convenience Centers will temporarily close this Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at 12:00 PM. The closure is necessary for a critical staff training session, impacting all waste management services until the following day.

Residents are urged to dispose of their trash early in the day, as operations will be halted at noon. The landfill and all Convenience Centers—numbered 1 through 12—are set to resume services promptly on Thursday, December 7, 2023. The landfill will reopen at 8:00 AM, while Convenience Centers will welcome visitors starting at 7:00 AM.

Specific locations for the Convenience Centers are available for those unfamiliar with their sites. Noteworthy addresses include the Elm City center at 6044 Bottoms Dairy Road and site 13 located at 2400 NC 42 Hwy East.
