UPDATE: A woman is hospitalized after being struck by an 18-wheeler early this morning on Capital Boulevard in Raleigh, N.C. The incident occurred just before 6:30 a.m. near the 3700 block in front of a Circle K convenience store.
Authorities report that the woman was found conscious and able to communicate with first responders at the scene. She was promptly transported to a local hospital for treatment. The Raleigh Police Department confirmed that the truck driver remained at the scene, and an investigation is currently underway to determine any potential fault.
Motorists are advised that part of Capital Boulevard is closed near Greywood Drive for most of the morning, causing significant traffic disruptions. The North Carolina Department of Transportation has issued alerts to keep drivers informed.
