York County Man Charged in DUI Crash Injuring Child, Adult

UPDATE: A York County man has been charged following a serious DUI crash that left a 5-year-old child and a 56-year-old adult with severe injuries. Jonathan Laughman, 46, of Glen Rock, was arraigned on multiple felonies, including aggravated assault and aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI, according to a statement from the Pennsylvania State Police.

The collision occurred on June 9, 2023, at the intersection of Constitution Avenue and Fairview Court in Shrewsbury Township. Authorities report that Laughman was driving a Ford F-250 westbound when he veered into the eastbound lane and collided with a Nissan Versa. The impact was so severe that Laughman’s truck also struck a utility pole, causing significant damage.

Both victims were rushed to York Hospital with critical injuries, including skull fractures and brain bleeding, leading to extended hospital stays for treatment and rehabilitation. The police confirmed Laughman was under the influence of drugs and alcohol during the incident.

After being charged with two counts of aggravated assault, three counts of recklessly endangering another person, and DUI, Laughman faced a judge on Monday. He was released on $100,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 23.
