Amazon Expands Prime Video with M6+ in France and RTVE in Spain

Amazon’s Prime Video announced significant content agreements on November 1, 2023, enhancing its offerings in France and Spain. The company has secured partnerships to deliver M6 Group’s streaming service, M6+, to Prime members in France, and live channels from Spain’s national broadcaster RTVE.

In France, Prime members can now access M6+, featuring content from channels including M6, W9, 6ter, and Gulli. This new deal grants subscribers access to over 30,000 hours of programming, including exclusive M6+ content, all at no additional cost. The partnership introduces a variety of entertainment options, such as the local version of the reality series The Traitors, as well as popular shows like Top Chef and Pékin Express. Notably, it also includes coverage of major sporting events like the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the Super Bowl.

Elisabetta Carruba, Director of Prime Video Channels for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, expressed enthusiasm about the addition of M6 programming, stating, “We are very pleased to welcome M6’s quality programming to Prime Video.” She emphasized that this step aligns with Amazon’s goal of becoming the leading entertainment destination for customers.

David Larramendy, Chairman of the M6 Group Executive Board, highlighted the strategic significance of this agreement. He noted that it enhances brand visibility and broadens audience reach, stating, “This partnership also consolidates the coverage of our offering marketed by M6 Unlimited and increases the value we bring to our customers.”

New Live Channels Available in Spain

Meanwhile, in Spain, Prime Video has entered into what it describes as a “landmark agreement” with RTVE, enabling Prime members to access live broadcasts from channels such as La 1, La 2, Canal 24H, Clan, and Teledeporte without incurring additional costs. This development allows Spanish viewers to enjoy a diverse range of programming, including sports coverage, news, and entertainment shows like MasterChef and La Promesa, all through a dedicated section on the Prime Video Live TV homepage.

Carruba remarked on the expansion of collaboration with RTVE, stating, “We are extremely pleased to expand our collaboration with RTVE through this agreement.” She reiterated that the focus remains on providing Prime subscribers with a comprehensive entertainment experience by integrating high-quality content into a single streaming service.

Amazon’s latest moves in France and Spain demonstrate its commitment to enriching Prime Video’s content library while effectively responding to the evolving needs of viewers in a competitive streaming landscape. As the streaming wars intensify, these partnerships could significantly enhance Amazon Prime’s appeal in Europe, positioning it as a formidable player in the market.
