BREAKING NEWS: Arlene Hartman, a cherished member of the Telford community, has passed away at the age of 87. She died on November 25, 2025, at the Lutheran Community at Telford, marking a profound loss for family and friends.
Hartman was a devoted wife to the late Glenn Hartman Sr., who she spent 65 years with until his passing in 2023. Born on July 2, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ella Mae (Myers) Strouse. Her legacy extends far beyond her years; she was deeply involved in her community and church.
An active and faithful member of St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sellersville for over 60 years, Hartman contributed significantly to her congregation. She sang in the church choir, volunteered with the Altar Guild, and led the Women of the ELCA (WELCA) as president for an impressive 25 years.
Professionally, Arlene Hartman was known for her diverse roles, including work at the Lutz Pants Factory and the former Emil’s Diner in Sellersville. She retired as a cashier from Clemens Markets in 1997, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and service.
Arlene’s passions included gardening, antiquing, and square dancing. She was also an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan and enjoyed stamp collecting. Her love for her family and community was evident in everything she did.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara A. Nemecek, and her husband, James; a sister, Margie Derstine; along with several nieces, nephews, and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Glenn Hartman Jr., who passed away in 1996.
A viewing will take place on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 10:55 a.m. at St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, located at 25 E. Church St., Sellersville, PA 18960. The funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. and will be livestreamed for those unable to attend in person. Interment will follow at Sellersville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Arlene’s name to St. Michael’s Lutheran Church at the same address. The arrangements are being handled by the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, Sellersville.
The community is mourning the loss of a remarkable woman whose impact will be felt for years to come. Her legacy of love, service, and faith remains an inspiration to many.
