UPDATE: The fourth annual “Bring the Juice” golf tournament is set to kick off today, October 27, 2023, at Dragonfly Golf Club in the Central Valley, drawing a star-studded lineup of NFL players. Founded by former Fresno State football player Frank Dalena, this event is more than just a golf outing; it supports the Juice Foundation, which provides essential sports equipment for youth organizations across the Central Valley.
The tournament has rapidly expanded since its inception, which saw just 16 NFL players participating in its inaugural year—despite heavy rain. Dalena emphasized the event’s growth, stating, “The Bring the Juice brand is all about grit and overcoming adversity.” He recalls how every participant showed up ready to play, rain gear in hand, signifying their commitment to the cause.
This year, approximately 60 NFL players are expected to participate, with today’s competition exclusively for NFL players. Tomorrow, Saturday, will feature a pro-am format where local businesses and sponsors can draft NFL players to join them on the course.
Among the notable players expected to attend are New York Giants’ running back Cam Skattebo, former quarterback Ben DiNucci, Giants safety Jevon Holland, linebacker Micah McFadden, Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis, and San Francisco 49ers’ long snapper Jon Weeks. Notably, former Fresno State star and backup quarterback Adrian Martinez, a Clovis West High School graduate, will also be in attendance.
Dalena, who is passionate about expanding the event’s reach, stated that he aims to create a unique national platform specifically for NFL players who love golf. “There are pro-ams at places like Pebble Beach and Edgewood Tahoe, but there really isn’t anything that’s strictly NFL,” he explained.
Local businesses including FFB Bank and Table Mountain Casino Resort are crucial partners in supporting the tournament, along with various agricultural companies and regional sponsors. Dalena reiterated the event’s primary goal: “We want this thing to grow, but at the end of the day, it’s about raising money for the foundation and doing something positive for the Valley.”
The Bring the Juice golf tournament is free for the public, allowing fans and families to engage with their favorite NFL stars while supporting a great cause. As the tournament unfolds, attendees can look forward to an exciting weekend filled with sports, community spirit, and philanthropy.
Stay tuned for updates as the tournament progresses and the stars take to the course!
