Tampa Deputies Arrest 3 Men, Seize Guns and Trafficking Drugs

Three Tampa Men Arrested After Deputies Seize Guns and Large Drug Haul

Three men were arrested this week after Hillsborough County deputies uncovered a significant cache of firearms and trafficking-level narcotics during a Tampa home raid. The search, conducted on April 24, revealed multiple guns and illegal drugs, prompting law enforcement action in west-central Florida.

Deputies from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office executed a gang unit search warrant that led to the arrests of Jayshod Jairon Nereus, 30, Janos Borgella Sr., 26, and Ira Franklin Strappier II, 32, all Tampa residents, authorities confirmed.

Firearms and Drugs Found in the Tampa Home

According to a sheriff’s office news release and online booking records, deputies discovered a Glock .22 handgun, two AR-15-style rifles, and a semiautomatic shotgun inside the residence. Alongside the firearms, law enforcement found 1.25 pounds of cannabis, cocaine, a trafficking amount of oxycodone, and various drug paraphernalia.

Such quantities signal trafficking-level possession, underscoring the seriousness of the raid. Deputies quickly charged those caught on the scene, some already linked to outstanding warrants.

Serious Charges, Outstanding Warrants

Nereus faced multiple charges including armed possession of cocaine, possession of a firearm during a felony, and possession of a short-barreled rifle. He was also wanted on an outstanding reckless driving warrant. His current custody status remains.

Borgella was charged with armed possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and armed trafficking in oxycodone weighing between 25 to 100 grams. He was released on bond on Sunday. Meanwhile, Strappier, detained for failure to appear on a previous warrant, was also released on bond this past Friday.

Why This Matters Now

This takedown highlights ongoing law enforcement efforts targeting gang-related activity and drug trafficking in the Tampa area. Seizing multiple firearms alongside large quantities of drugs helps reduce dangerous weapons on the street and curbs narcotics distribution at the community level.

“Guns and drugs all in one Tampa home,”

posted the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Gang Unit on social media, calling attention to the swift action.

What’s Next

Authorities continue investigations into the suspects’ connections and broader criminal activity linked to the seized weapons and narcotics. The community is urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious behaviors that threaten public safety.

The arrests and charges represent a quick crackdown on illegal gun possession combined with drug trafficking — a pressing issue for local and national law enforcement agencies aiming to combat crime spikes.

As the case develops, updates on trial dates and further enforcement actions will be closely watched by Tampa residents and beyond.
